Module 13: Urinary System

OBJECTIVES: The urinary module covers the different structures and histology of the urinary system.  It will also cover the process of urine formation and water regulation.

Upon completion of this module you will be able to:
  • List the functions of the urinary system
  • Describe the structure and function of the kidney and nephron
  • Explain how urine is formed (filtration, re-absorption, and secretion)
  • Explain how water is conserved by the kidney
  • Describe the structure and function of the ureters, urinary bladder, and urethra
