Module 14: Endocrine system

OBJECTIVES: The endocrine system focuses on the production, target sites, and actions of hormones. Specific glands and the hormones they produce will included in the discussion.

Upon completion of this module you will be able to:
  • List the functions of the endocrine system
  • Compare the endocrine system to the nervous system
  • Define hormone and describe how they function in the endocrine system
  • List the primary glands and their structures
  • For each gland, list the hormones produced, their function, and what cells they act on
