Module 11: Respiratory System

OBJECTIVES: The respiratory module looks at the structures that allow us to breath.  We will cover the various structures and their functions.  Additionally, we will discuss the mechanisms of respiration and gas exchange.

Upon completion of this module you will be able to:
  • List the functions of the respiratory system.
  • Identify the structures of the respiratory system and describe their functions.
  • Explain the respiratory cycle.
  • Describe the physical laws associated that allow respiration to occur.
  • Understand the process of both systemic and alveolar gas exchange.
