Module 2: Chemistry

OBJECTIVES: The body operates through the use of metabolic functions, or chemical reactions.  It is essential that you have a foundational knowledge of some of these processes and the key molecules found in the body.

Upon completion of this module you will be able to:
  • Define an element.
  • Explain atomic structure and how to determine atomic mass and atomic number.
  • Explain the types of chemical bonding.
  • Describe mixtures, solutions, and pH.
  • Describe the main organic compounds of the body.
